What do missed calls cost?

Four numbers from your own week. Calls that come in, calls nobody answered, how many of those would have booked, and what a typical job is worth in your own currency. The page multiplies them. It does not fill in a sample, and it does not send anything.

Run your counts.

Leave the fields empty until you have your own week. A blank box is not a zero, and a zero is not a guess.

How many calls the shop gets in a normal week.

How many of those calls nobody picked up.

How many of the unanswered calls would have become a job.

What a typical job is worth, in your own currency. No symbol.

The lines above stay blank until every field has a number. Nothing here is a sample.

The math runs in your browser. The numbers never leave the page, and nothing is stored. The yearly figure uses the currency you had in mind. It is not a forecast.

How to read it

Your counts, then the multiply.

The four boxes are a week you already lived. The three results are that week stretched across a year. Nothing in the formula is a rate from another company.

The week

Count rings, not feelings.

Calls a week is the phone ringing. Unanswered is the ring nobody took. Would have booked is your judgment about those missed rings, not a percent we supplied. Job worth is the typical job, in whatever currency you already use.

The year

Fifty-two weeks, then twelve.

Lost jobs a month is the weekly booked-if-answered count times 52, divided by 12. Value a year is that month times 12, times the job worth. The words under the boxes repeat it so the total is not a black box.

The next page

The text after the ring.

Missed-call rescue is the system for a ring nobody picked up. Home services is the industry page if the phone is the front door. Read those after the number, not before you know whether the number is large.

A published figure

Someone else’s research sits beside yours.

Invoca wrote on May 23, 2024 that 27 percent of calls to home services businesses are not answered, and that under 3 percent of callers sent to voicemail leave a message. The article is See How Much Missed Sales Calls Cost Home Services Businesses. Those percents are not typed into the boxes. If your week is different, your week wins. Shops that are not home services can still run the multiply. The Invoca note is about home services calls, which is why the home services page is the industry link from here.

What the figure is

A share of calls, not a bill.

Twenty-seven percent unanswered is a research finding about home services calls. It is not your unanswered count, and it is not a dollar total. The voicemail line is the reason a missed ring usually does not become a message you can return.

What we do not do

We do not drop it into your boxes.

A default would look like your result. The boxes start empty so the only number on the page, once you type, is one you brought. If you want a starting guess, write the Invoca share on paper and apply it to your own call count. Do not treat that guess as the calculator’s answer.

Questions

Before you multiply.

What does the calculator multiply?

Missed calls a week is the unanswered count you typed. Likely lost jobs a month takes the “would have booked” count, multiplies by 52, and divides by 12. Value a year multiplies that monthly job count by 12 and by the job worth you typed. The words under the boxes write the same steps. If a count is impossible, such as more unanswered calls than calls, the boxes say so instead of printing a figure.

Why are the boxes empty?

A filled-in example would look like a result. Your week is the only input that belongs here. Count a normal week, not a storm week and not a holiday week, unless that is the week you are pricing. If you do not know how many unanswered calls would have booked, leave that box blank until you do. A guess printed as a total is worse than a blank.

Is anything stored or sent?

No. The script on this tool reads the four fields and writes the three results. It does not call a server, it does not write to storage, and it does not ask for an email. Refresh the page and the boxes are empty again. The only record is the one you keep, if you write the number down yourself.

What should I do with a large number?

Read the missed-call rescue page before you buy a dialer. That system logs a ring nobody took and sends a text from a line the shop already signed. A person still books the work. A large yearly figure is a reason to look at that job. It is not a promise that every unanswered call becomes a job, and it is not a reason to staff a night desk from a calculator.

Next step

Send the text after the missed ring.

The calculator is the size of the week. Missed-call rescue is the job. A person can look at that job with you. The reply comes within one business day.
